The fourth item on my checklist is relations with hostile
societies.
So, I'm looking at these issues of collapses for a lot of past
societies
and for many present
societies.
But nevertheless, there are certain common threads that emerge from these comparisons of past

that did or did not collapse and threatened

today.
So, this is a frequent theme:

make bad decisions: conflicts of interest.
They're also vehicles for sowing inspiration and ideas across our
societies
and across time.
And so part of what we see is the same evolution of human behavior that you see in emerging
societies.
And in diverse societies, pop-up rules carry special force.

Now even though Western domination has ended, the West continues to intervene and interfere in the affairs of many other
societies.
This is generating anger and resentment, especially in Islamic
societies.
It's also draining the resources and spirits of Western
societies.
As a longtime friend of the West, I'm acutely aware of how pessimistic Western
societies
have become.
Now I can say this with some conviction, because as a Hindu Sindhi, I actually feel a direct cultural connection with society's diverse cultures and
societies
all the way from Tehran to Tokyo.
And, as I've been looking, over the last year, for models for how to do that, I've been sort of looking across time, and I've been trying to find other
societies
to see if they might have had better and saner ideas than we have about how to help creative people sort of manage the inherent emotional risks of creativity.
And in
societies
that are supposed to be more open and free than China, it can be even harder to recognize what propaganda looks like.
As you know, the idea that it's a woman or a girl's role to do household work is a rule that has been carried out by many
societies
for so long, so in order for a 13-year-old me to challenge it, I needed a platform.
Politics is the tool through which we structure ourselves as groups and
societies.
When these families migrate, they change and transform

I think something's also changing more fundamentally, and we as
